Preface
Dear Reader,
This personal account I am sharing with you here, is that of a mental patient who has been in my treatment for some 8 years. Frustrated by the discrepancy between her interpretation of her internal world, and the interpretation her therapist, myself, held as well as that of the world at large, the patient had insisted that she write a diary in order to have a grip on her thoughts, to which I finally gave in. At the time, I thought it would allow me more insight to what I regarded and discarded as ‘her illness’ and the essence of her pathology. I also hoped that insight in her inner world may allow me to find a more empathetic way of luring her away from her abnormal way of thinking that would be easier for her to accept and knowing her imaginary world, I would be able to assist her in finding her way back to our world regards as sanity. I have found her account remarkable because of the sophisticated but deceptive logic with which she has constructed her private world where every lapse and distance with the reality is closed off, and accounted for. In her imaginary world, her self-constructe logic with which she furnished her narrative has both meaning and a reasonin so sound, not only did it seduce her to chose it over the real world, but in tempting bystanders to buy into her version of reality, because it offers hop and possibilities that are absent in the reality of things. It is preferable over the logic of the real world for the patient herself who has now fallen in so deep that any hope on returning to reality is slim, as well as the unsuspecting individuals who happened upon it, with disastrous consequences to their lives. The disparity between her world and reality is such that nothing but conflict, chaos and ultimately psychosis can come of it despite the seemingly superiority that her theory holds over that of the normal world. The motive for publishing this account is the belief that it has the qualities and the potential that can propel it into a cult and therefore must be nipped in its bud as well as studied. To give this case a sound scientific base and the patient the benefit of the doubt, I have included her own unedited account of what happened against the background of my diagnosis and analysis of her illness. Thus, the reader can make up his/her own mind about this case by carefully considering the two opposing perspectives, and to recognize for themselves the characteristic arguments and trickeries these pseudo-realities hold so that they can mentally guard themselves against it...
